One of our future teammates, Seregej (pictured below), has been working on the translation of the Book of Luke and 50 Bible stories in the language of Ludari. Ludari is the native language of the Roma people in Slavonski Brod. Ludari has never been translated or even had a written alphabet before. Seregej along with a translation team has created an alphabet. They were able to use Croatian letters and one new letter to form this alphabet! This is great because there is a good amount of people in the village that can read Croatian, so it won’t be totally foreign to them. They just recently finished the translation of the Book of Luke and 50 Bible stories. After these copies were printed they gave us a call and asked if we wanted to be apart of passing them out. Of course I (Wes) said yes!! On the 28th of September I headed to Croatia for 8 days ready to see God’s work in person!
Ministry Center
This first task I had in Croatia was helping the team work on the ministry center. The ministry center is almost finished with construction. They hope this will hold the Roma church one day! I was able to help with concrete, moving supplies, and spreading out gravel for the drive way.
Bible Teaching
I was able to teach 3 Roma Klema (Teen) Clubs in the ministry center. I taught about the Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit. Seregej translated for me which was a really neat experience. I also got to play games with the kids, here is one below.
Book of Luke Distribution
This was so awesome to be apart of! Our team and I went door to door throughout the village passing out the Book of Luke and 50 Bible stories to the people. All the families were very surprised that their own language was written down and some of them tried to read it right away! I did two days of distribution and there are still more families to pass out to. When the team is done passing them out there will be over 200 families that have received this translation.
GOD IS ON THE MOVE
A ministry center is being built. An alphabet has been written. A translation has begun. Families have a part of His Word in their hands and in their heart language.
Do you have goosebumps? We do! Join us in praising God for how He moves. Join us in prayer for His people to turn to Him.
Luke 15:3 And so He told them this parable, saying, 4 “What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the other ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he puts it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost!’ 7 I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.
