Bok! Hi!
We are writing to you from Croatia! We have been here almost 4 weeks now and have a lot to update you on so this will be an extra-long newsletter!
June,
Thank you for praying for Beau! He had to have his ties revised which were quite severe. He had tongue, lip and cheek ties. He was such a tough boy and is healing so well. We are so thankful we could take care of this before we left.
At the end of June, we had a commissioning service at our sending church in Kissimmee, Florida. What a wonderful time we had with our church family. Both our parents and Rebekah’s sister and her children came to be there! The church prayed over us and officially “sent us” out from them.
July,
We spent the Fourth of July with all of my (Rebekah) family! We had a great time at our last get-together before we left. After that, we finished our final packing up and left for Miami. We spent one night in Miami and the next night we departed for Croatia. We got to the airport at 5pm (est) on the 10th and arrived at 7pm (est) on the 11th.
Goodbyes,
We said a lot of hard goodbyes over the last month. We are excited to be on the path God has guided us down but that doesn’t make it easy. Our families, friends and we had a difficult time saying goodbye. Please keep all of us in your prayers as we learn how to adjust to being apart.
Our First Weeks,
When we first arrived, we stayed at the ministry center. The front half of the building is for kid's clubs, Bible studies and hopefully will house a Roma church one day. The back half of the building has living quarters. We stayed there for about two weeks as we adjusted to the six-hour time change and life here. We found an apartment in 11 days, which is so fast! We have been in our new apartment for almost two weeks now. Since being here we have been spending time with the team, going through some “orientation” with our team leader, setting up our home, buying a car, joining in on kid’s Bible clubs…etc. Reese LOVES the kid’s clubs! This has helped our move to be really fun for her. Our team has been extremely hospitable and helpful during this transition. I honestly couldn’t imagine going through all this without them.
Coming Up
We are expecting a team from London, tonight! They will be here for 9 days and we have a packed schedule planned. We are very excited to see everything that happens when a team visits. Our days will be busy with ministry, and we can’t wait. We have also jumped back into language learning and after this team leaves, we will establish a regular schedule for our studying and life here.
Prayers & Praises
Thank you for praying for us! A lot has happened in the last few months for our family. Wesley and I are feeling quite exhausted still. Please pray for energy, physically and mentally. I’m striving to learn how to “rest” in the Lord well.
Please pray for Reese. She has embraced everything with so much excitement which is great! Reese enjoys seeing all the Roma kids, always saying “Bok”, holding hands or hugging all of them! She has called the last 3 places we have stayed “new home”. She hasn’t realized we are staying here yet and we hope she continues to adjust well as she realizes this is “home” now. She was disappointed when we went to church on Sunday, and it was not “our church” but she quickly embraced it. With her being unable to communicate her thoughts and feelings we ask you to pray for our parenting. Please pray we can be good parents, in tune with her and helpful to everything she is processing as well. Please pray she continues to adjust well.
Praise God with us…
We have a team that not only has been a blessing to us but loves our kids!
We found an apartment so quickly and are settling in well!
Beau and Reese are doing great!
Thank you for your support, prayer and encouragement!
With love,
Wesley & Rebekah Davey
